Smartphones and tablets are long being cursed for their harmful effects on human beings. However, in today’s smart world everyone owns a smartphone or tablet. Even the kids are addicted to these devices which can pose risk to their well being. According to the latest study published in Scientific Reports, the use of smartphones and tablets emits blue light which can speed up the blindness process.
The study was conducted by the researchers from the University of Toledo. These researchers claim that prolonged and close exposure to screens can accelerate the blindness. Such exposure emits blue light which can damage vision. This blue light produces toxic chemicals inside the retina leading to its degeneration.
For The Purpose Of The Study:
the researchers exposed the living cells to different lights. After the study, Blue Light Emitted By The Use Of Smartphones And Tablets concluded that the blue light emitted from smartphones and tablets generates toxic chemicals in the photoreceptor cells. These photoreceptor cells present in the retina then react to these chemical molecules which can accelerate blindness.
Blue Light Emitted By The Use Of Smartphones And Tablets blue light emitted by these devices is intolerable to our delicate eyes. Also, some smartphones manufacturers are adding a filter to the screen which is a good idea to prevent the users from the risk of blindness. To avoid blue light from severely damaging our eyes, Android and Apple phones are equipped with the light filters. Especially, during the night when we access these devices the strain on our eyes is doubled.
Also, many third-party applications are launched to filter this blue light emitted by desktops, smartphones, and tablets. The best way to prevent ourselves from the risk of blindness is to avoid the use of these devices during the night or to wear glasses which can filter out this light.
In the United States, more than 2 million people are suffering from macular degeneration. Macular degeneration is caused by toxic chemical reactions taking place between the retina and blue light emitted by smartphones and tablets. There is a need to find a solution to this problem as even small children are becoming a victim of this condition. Macular degeneration eventually leads to loss of vision and blindness. This disorder is commonly seen in old people as their immunity is weakened.
