Google is now extending its support to cater to food delivery orders. This functionality is available by co-operating with food delivery vendors like DoorDash, ChowNow, Postmates and others. Google now supports the food delivery options with the help of Google Maps, Search and Google Assistant.
The new feature was revealed by the company during I/O 2018 which is now available to all the users. With the launch of these features, users need not download the app. They can directly Google search or visit the respective website for the payment. The company is also planning to extend its support to other food delivery platforms like Uber Eats, Zuppler, Grubhub and others.
The users with this feature enabled on their browser can simply search for the specific restaurant. The users can then choose the delivery or pickup option as per their convenience. Once this is selected the users can then check out by making payment through Google Pay.
Food delivery orders through Google are now supported on all Android and iOS platforms. With the help of Google Assistant, the users can simply use voice commands to order a meal. The users can even re-order a meal using the same platform.
With the launch of this new feature, users can see the “Order Online” button on the Maps and Browser. They can then click on this button for pickup or food delivery option. Also, users can choose the delivery service which they want to choose and what food they wish to order. If any user wants to repeat their previous order they can say “Hey Google, reorder the food from [restaurant name].”
However, it is not yet clear whether the feature will be available on smart speakers or not. This feature is similar to ride-hailing services seen on Google Maps. Some other food delivery services supported by Google Search, Maps and Assistant include Delivery.com, Slice and others.
